Career

▲2001-2013 (Childhood)

Algodões is located in the interior of the state of Bahia in northeastern Brazil. André Trindade was born in a small community surrounded by rich nature. His family consists of four members, his parents and his brother Romario Souza. He started playing football at the Futur Selt School, which was directed by Antonio Ferreira, who is also a dentist.

When he was 10 years old, he participated in a selection event held in a neighboring town, and passed the test that would normally be held three times on the first try, and won the opportunity to play in Salvador, the capital of Bahia. There, he lived with his mother in Salvador, honing his talent, and after being the top scorer in the 2013 Bahia state championship, he received an offer from the current Fluminense FC. he was 12 years old.

▲2013-2022 (Fluminense)

Joined Schellen (Xerém = Fluminense’s training center) as a center forward. However, due to his short stature, he was usually on the bench in his first year, with Marcos Paulo’s back-upper in place. He then moved down to midfielder after a managerial change in 2014 and over time found his current role as a defensive midfielder.

Since 2017, he has been the team captain, and in the 2018 season when he began to shine in earnest, he contributed to winning the U17 campeonato carioca (U17 Rio de Janeiro state championship). In the copa do brasil U17 in the same season, he lost to Flamengo led by Reinier Jesus, but he has grown into an important presence in Fluminense’s golden generation, such as contributing to the second place in the tournament.

In the following 2019 season, he was also a main force in the Fluminense U20, but it was difficult to intervene in the professional category, and he was thinking about transferring as players of the same generation were arriving one after another. Botafogo FR and CRB were emerging as the transfer destination, and the transfer negotiations on loan were approaching the end. However, in early May, veteran Hudson was injured and the deal was canceled. Moved up to his first team, he made his debut in the fourth round of the Copa do Brasil in September 2020 against Atlético Goianiense.

Since August 2021, the position has been absolute, and in the 2021 season, he won the newcomer of the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A(1st division league). He contributed to winning the Campeonato Carioca in 2022, and before he knew it, he had played 100 games at Fluminense, and is becoming an important supporter of Fluminense.

Style of Play

He is a midfield balancer whose main battlefield is the anchor and defensive line. He has a pass success rate of 92%, which is good regardless of his own side or opponent’s area, and there are many passes that turn on the attack switch even in the possession style Fluminense.

He has a good physical balance, and even when pressured by multiple players, he has the ability to keep the ball while making full use of his body and foot skills. In addition, it is highly rated for its strength in narrow and tight spaces, such as being able to switch bodies and push forward.

Taking Sergio Busquets as a role model, he also loves games, and FIFA22 distributes Call of Duty under the account Deca_07. If you’re curious about your ability, it’s a good idea to check it out.

Representative Career

Since he belongs to the generation in the valley, he does not have a brilliant career in the generational representative, and the Brazilian U20 is the last call. Nonetheless, he has been praised by the Brazilian national team coach Tite by name, and is in the process of entering the full national team. It is expected to be incorporated into the generational change after the World Cup.

Transfer Rumors

Despite interest from major European clubs, he remains under contract with Fluminense until the end of December 2025. In his most recent interview, he seems less conscious of football in Europe and less anxious about the consequences.

He’s about to become a father in January 2023, so he may not be keen on making a drastic change to his surroundings at this point. At the age of 17, he had his sights set on Europe and the Seleção, and he has professed that he likes the style of Barcelona and Liverpool.
